ALZHEIMER’S DISEASE AFFECTS US ALL

Have you seen signs of memory loss or difficulty in thinking in a loved one? The first step to diagnosis and care is a discussion about their memory with their Primary Care Provider. If certain criteria are met, the doctor can provide a referral to a Georgia Memory Net Memory Assessment Clinic for diagnosis and care planning.

If your loved one is a Medicare-eligible Georgian over 65, they’re entitled to a free Annual Wellness Visit—a health screening with their Primary Care Provider that’s paid for by Medicare. This visit includes a 3-minute screening tool used to detect cognitive problems, and is another way to detect signs of memory loss.

Either way, your first step is clear—talk to your loved one’s Primary Care Provider.
